NOTE TO TEAM:
12/21/10: Our next planning meeting for the Cal-Ore Middle School Smack Down @ Mack Town is Wednesday, December 29th, 6:30PM at Hotel Arcata. Thanks to REWA, four new score clocks have been ordered. These should be here in time for the Arcata High JV tournament, January 8th. If you know of anyone who wants to help organize a great event, then pass the word and encourage them to attend. Attached is an updated tournament flyer compliment of USA Wrestling and Les Gutches, plus they gave us a black and white version, plus one our website, www.mackwrestling.info. Rob England is helping in getting the tournament information posted online in Oregon and we have both posted the tournament on the California Wrestler Forum. I’ll ask Rob Valerio, CalUSA Wrestling to blast e-mail the flyer out as well. Thanks to Rex Metcalf, has posted our tournament on the Oregon Wrestling Association website. Plus, I will begin calling coaches in Oregon and central valley (Redding area) to update them about the flyer and get them to being pre-registering kids. I also attached a draft press release that still needs to be edited and approved by Les Gutches. But please take a look at if you have time and give me any feedback, good or bad, its all fine. Just want to improve it before e-mailing it to Les by Wednesday morning. We expect to release it next week. We have a lot of work to do between now and January 13th. This is the cut-off date for local and out-of area kids to pre-register, and submit a signed photo release and digital photo of their kid(s) to be included in the tournament program. We will also need help in acquiring donations for concessions and selling ad space (sponsorship) in the tournament program. Meanwhile, if possible during the winter break, begin to get parents to sign the photo release and get a good picture of your club kids to be included in the tournament program. WHAT TO WEAR AT PRACTICES:
Proper attire for practices: T-shirts, shorts, and preferably wrestling shoes. All clothing worn on the mat must be clean, free of rivets, buckles, zippers or any sharp objects that may damage the wrestling mat. Remove all watches and jewelry.

FOOTWEAR: Wrestling shoes are recommended for wrestlers, but most clean soft-soled shoes (or stocking feet) that won't leave marks or otherwise damage the mats may be acceptable. Wrestling shoes are available at most large sporting goods stores and online.

HEADGEAR: Headgear to protect the ears is not required at this level of wrestling but is recommended for all wrestlers as ears are sensitive to the rigors of wrestling. Headgear is required in high school wrestling so it's not a bad idea to get used to wearing headgear at this level of wrestling.
